Speaking during the handover ceremony, Chairman for NRWB, Reverend Howard Matiya Nkhoma said that the Board decided to construct the block to address the challenge of inadequate learning facilities due to the growing population of students at the school.
Nkhoma said the Board will continue to support several other schools within its supply area as part of its corporate responsibility which is to contribute to the growth and development of the communities and the nation as a whole.
“The Board’s strategic investment in education brings with it benefits for both local communities and for the Board itself. The community benefits from the creation and support of an enabling environment for both learning and teaching that will assist in the sustainable empowerment of the community and its residents,” he explained.
The Head Teacher and Chairperson for the Parents Teachers Association for the school thanked NRWB for the timely assistance. The two stated that the school block has greatly improved the learning environment for students at the school.
The block has four classrooms sitting 200 students. The Board also bought 200 desks for classrooms including teachers’ chairs.
